Helen In Egypt
A synopsis of a scene from the Euripides’ play Helen in Egypt, which presents a variation of the tradition: instead of going with Paris straight to Troy, Helen stayed in Egypt under the protection of the pharaoh for the 10-year war, while a phantom version of Helen walked the walls of Troy. This scene is the recognition between Menelaos and his long-lost wife is both humorous and tragic–it implies that the war was fought for a phantom.
This comic comes from the archives–I drew it way back in 2003 in Australia.
